The Association intends to investigate in monasteries, libraries and other places where manuscripts are preserved, often jealously guarded and ununderstandably forgotten, and very particularly the Beatos de Liébana, which are closer to us as they where all created in the scriptoria of the kingdoms of Castilla and León. To achieve this, the Association will carry out several courses on calligraphy, taught by well-known calligraphers. In these courses, we will specifically place emphasis on the materials used by calligraphers and illuminators of the Middle Age: parchment, papyrus, special papers, and the tools: pens, writing canes, natural pigments, inks, gesso, gold… We intend that every member of the Association reach a wide and orthodox education in both aspects: calligraphy and illumination
